SoundTransit is a directory of short downloadable audio files of situational background noise recorded by enthusiasts from around the world. All the mp3 files are covered by the Creative Commons license and can therefore be freely used to add ambience to your podcasts. The search engine makes it simple to find an appropriate clip. Three ex-Google employees have just launched a new site called Howcast that provides high-quality instructional videos and wikis that explain how to do just about anything. This site is incredibly well done. The videos are fun and entertaining. The design of the site is fabulous. Expect Howcast to get huge. This will be one serious distraction.
